Jonathan Jones ’19 (Blakely, Georgia) and Le Li ’18 (Shenzhen, China) recently submitted photographs to the Educational & Institutional Insurance Administrators, Inc. (EIIA) photo contest for students and received cash prizes for winning first and second place in the contest, respectively. Their work will be featured in the 2018 EIIA Annual Report.
The EIIA Photo Contest invites students of member institutions to submit photographs depicting changing campus environments and school facilities.
Although Jones studies anthropology/sociology and Li studies philosophy, the beauty of Centre College’s campus inspired them to take up photography as a hobby.
“I decided to enter this contest, because I’d recently taken some pictures of campus that really stood out to me, and I wanted the chance to share them,” Jones says.
“I often do my best to take my pictures exactly as my eyes see them, sharing the natural beauty of the world, and I thought perhaps that kind of style would match what they were looking for,” he continues.
Li bought her first camera during her sophomore year, when she spent a semester studying in Strasbourg, France.
She continued to explore photography when she returned from Europe, saying, “The Centre campus inspired me to capture the moments that I really want to treasure in my life.”
