As spring begins to blossom, so do the academic achievements of Centre College students, many of whom are preparing for the 10th annual Research, Internships and Creative Endeavors (RICE) symposium.
The RICE symposium gives students the opportunity to display research achievements, creative endeavors and independent projects completed over the course of the school year. At the same time, this event offers a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable experience with public speaking, symposia and presenting creative and academic work.
The 87 presentations from a variety of academic disciplines include 55 oral presentations, 32 poster presentations, a film presentation and an art exhibit.
“The entire undergraduate research committee has been working hard to make sure that the 10th annual RICE symposium is an exceptional opportunity for our community to come together to share our enthusiasm for research and creative work,” said RICE symposium co-chair Ellen Prusinski, assistant professor of education. “I love that RICE gives students a way to showcase their outstanding work and participate in a day of vibrant intellectual exchange.
“That Centre has been hosting this day for ten years really demonstrates our collective commitment to making sure that we are a place where students can pursue their passions and develop their intellectual curiosity,” she added.
The 2017 RICE Symposium is sponsored by the dean’s office and all academic programs. The event will be held on April 13.
