Over the last five years, Centre College’s graduating classes have achieved high employment and graduate school outcomes, ranging from 95 to 98 percent employed or in advanced study within one year of graduating. Within this time frame, students have received first jobs from some of the world’s top companies and organizations.
“We are thrilled to see Centre students getting such impressive jobs right after graduation,” said Joy Asher, director of the Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD). “This just proves that the Centre experience is preparing students with the knowledge and skills needed for both initial and lifelong career success.”
The list of companies and organizations includes notable names such as AmeriCorps, Boston Medical Center, Commission on Presidential Debates, Denver Art Museum, Edelweiss Lodge and Resort, Fulbright, Google, Hogan Lovells, International Monetary Fund, Jefferson National Financial, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, Lockheed Martin, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Penguin Random House, Schneider Electric, The Washington Post, U.S. Department of State, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Walt Disney World.
“What’s striking about this list is both the quality of the companies and the diversity of career fields represented,” Asher added. “We always tell students that they can do just about anything with any major, and this list proves that’s true. Pretty much every industry imaginable is represented here: business, data analytics, arts, government, law, education, medicine, research, publishing, technology, and on and on.
“Not only is the breadth of industries noteworthy but these companies represent the ‘best of the best’ in their respective fields,” she continued.
As part of the Centre Commitment, students are guaranteed an internship or research experience. According to Asher, by the time students graduate, 90 percent have participated in at least one internship and/or undergraduate research opportunity.
“The impact these experiences have on students’ employability can’t be overstated,” she said. “In addition, the CCPD works hard to provide students with the professional skills they will need to be successful in the workplace. This combination of a top-notch education, high-quality pre-professional experiences and workplace-ready skill development uniquely prepares Centre students for such remarkable jobs upon graduation.”
