With Centre College’s bicentennial approaching, a new presence on the website was recently launched to help people stay up-to-date on events surrounding the celebration of the College’s 200th anniversary.
“The bicentennial website it designed to provide faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the College a single place to find updated information on the bicentennial celebrations,” said Patrick Noltemeyer, chief planning officer and special assistant to the president. “It is also a way for us to engage off-campus constituents with the programs and events planned during the bicentennial year.”
The website will be updated regularly with news about on- and off-campus events, photos and stories from alumni and friends of the College.
“Turning 200 is a remarkable and notable achievement, making Centre one of the oldest and arguably most successful institutions in the U.S.,” Noltemeyer said. “Centre has been educating outstanding young people for almost 200 years, who have gone on to make positive contributions through their lives of work and service, making an impact that belies the small size of the institution.
“Being 200 years old means the College has a solid foundation from which to build, and we are doing just that as we have planned these celebrations, and a wide variety of ideas have come forward,” he concluded. “It has been fun to engage in these discussions and to discuss how the institution’s past can inform and inspire the future.”
