As one of the nation’s top institutions for study abroad, Centre College is committed to creating global citizen leaders by providing every student the opportunity to explore the world. During CentreTerm 2016, students are taking advantage of that guarantee in great numbers.
Adding to the 85 percent of students who study abroad at least once during their four years at the College, nearly 200 CentreTerm students are traveling to destinations spanning the globe, including such locations as Argentina, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Morocco, Uganda and Rwanda.
“To truly be global citizens, students have to do more than read about other places—they have to live there and truly immerse themselves in others cultures,”Assistant Director of the Center for Global Citizenship Leigh Cocanougher said. “Doing so deepens their understanding and appreciation for these other cultures, which in turn deepens the students’ understanding of their own.
“Studying abroad, then, transforms not only their way of looking at the world but their way of looking at themselves and their role in that world.”
