Centre’s LUX on the Lawn Music Festival to feature alumni bands, headliner Walker Hayes on October 11

In continuation of its bicentennial celebration, Centre College will present the LUX on the Lawn Music Festival, a FREE public event kicking off Homecoming weekend on Friday, October 11 for Centre alumni and the Danville–Boyle County community.

“As we celebrate the College’s 200th anniversary, we recognize that Centre would not be what it is today without the people and community surrounding it,” said Director of Alumni & Family Engagement Megan Haake Milby ’03. “Whether it’s the schools, city hall, local agencies or the heart of downtown, Centre is grateful for the support and generosity of the Danville and Boyle County communities. We hope this festival acknowledges and celebrates that partnership.”

Inspired by Centre’s motto, “Doctrina Lux Mentis,” the LUX concert schedule is lined with performances on the Festival Lawn by Centre alumni, students and professors who are all successful musicians, and will conclude with a headliner concert by country music artist Walker Hayes.

The festival coordinators, Milby and bicentennial intern Morgan Rahe ’21, say the event is designed to offer a “true small town street festival vibe,” all while showcasing the best of Centre in a lineup of performances that will appeal to a broad audience, with music ranging from bluegrass and country to rock and party music from several talented Centre alumni and professors.
