Centre College’s 2012 Commencement ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 in Newlin Hall. For the second consecutive year, Centre will stream the Commencement ceremony live from the College website. A link to the streaming video will be posted and available on the Centre homepage.
Thanks to the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) on campus, the live stream of Centre’s Commencement will be accessible by virtually any operating system—including Windows, Mac, Linux, iPad, iPhone, Android, IE and Chrome—as well as any browser—including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera and AOL.
The 2012 graduation exercises will begin with Baccalaureate at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 20 in Newlin Hall. This year’s featured speakers are Rabbis Joe Rapport and Gaylia Rooks of Louisville.
Rapport and Rooks both have served the Adath Israel Brith Sholom Temple since 1988. Both received their undergraduate degrees from Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, and their master’s degrees from the College’s Los Angeles campus. Rapport earned a second master’s and a Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. Rooks earned a Doctorate of Ministry from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Rapport and Rooks are parents to Lev Rooks-Rapport ’12.
Janet H. Brown, executive director of the Commission on Presidential Debates, will be the featured Commencement speaker. Brown has served as executive director of the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) for its entire 25-year history. Prior to joining the CPD, Brown served in appointed positions at the White House and the Office of Management and Budget. Brown earned her undergraduate degree at Williams College and a master’s from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, where she has chaired the alumni executive committee.
