“Danielle came into this season with one mission, and that was to get back to nationals in the mile and score top 8 and earn all American honors” said Dean Brownley, the Centre swimming and diving coach.
“She has worked hard all year and everything came together,” he continued.
Wahl wrapped up her Centre career with a seventh place finish in the mile freestyle, earning her an All-American title. Her race time was 16:51.16, which set a new school record and was four seconds faster than her NCAA qualifying time.
“She will leave our program a very decorated swimmer,” Brownley said.
Hayhurst competed in the women’s 1m and 3m diving competitions, qualifying for All-American honors in the latter event.
“I hoped Sarah would finish in the top 8, but I never dreamed she would have finished in fourth place on the 3m,” he continued.
Hayhurst was the first All-American for the College in women’s diving since Centre Athletics Hall of Fame member Diane Skellinger in 1987.
