The Queen of Country Music is embarking on her first North American tour in 25 years, performing more than 60 shows throughout the U.S. and Canada. And if Kentuckians want to see Dolly Parton perform, their only opportunity is at the Norton Center for the Arts on the campus of Centre College.
Tickets for the Tuesday, Aug. 9 show go on sale for the general public on June 6. Norton Center donors, advertisers and subscribers will have the opportunity to purchase tickets beginning June 1.
Parton is no stranger to the Norton Center, having performed to a packed house in Newlin Hall in 2005. Besides being the only Kentucky venue on the tour, her return visit will also be notable since it offers the most intimate setting for the tour.
“As of now, the Norton Center will be the smallest theatre to host Dolly during this tour,” says Norton Executive Director Steve Hoffman.
The Pure & Simple Tour is scheduled to begin June 3 with a show in Greensboro, N.C., making its way through 18 states before arriving in Kentucky. Numerous shows in Canada and five more states round out the tour, with the final concert on Nov. 15 in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
Parton will perform songs from her new “Pure & Simple” double-disc album as well as hit songs from throughout her impressive career.
