DramaCentre presents “An Evening of Ives: six short comic plays by David Ives,” Sept. 25-28

As part of Centre College’s Family Weekend, DramaCentre presents “An Evening of Ives: six short comic plays by David Ives.” The show opens Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. and continues through Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m. in Weisiger Theatre in the College’s Norton Center for the Arts. The plays were directed by Hannah Johnson ’20, Rachel Woellner ’20 and Olivia Wilkinson ’21.

The cast consists of seven talented female students who play 20 different roles. According to Woellner, the show is a fun production that discusses ideas of love, time and other exciting topics.

Woellner added it has been a great experience being a student director for the plays.

“While it is challenging having to put on an entire production, it has been such a fascinating experience being able to work with some of my closest friends making these stories come to life,” she said. “I have really enjoyed being able to put what I have learned in my classes into my work as a director, and I also really loved being able to experience new challenges, preparing me for possible future opportunities as a director.”

As far as what the audience can look forward to, Woellner said they should expect to be surprised.

“This is a great production made by fellow students, so it would be amazing if we could have a great student turnout to share in the work that our peers have done,” Woellner concluded.

Centre student tickets are free, and the performance counts as a convocation credit. For Family Weekend, parents can also enjoy free admission. Two free tickets are also available to faculty and staff.

Tickets can be set aside through the Norton Center Box Office or can be picked up at the door.
