Equestrian Club to host on-campus pony ride fundraiser, April 19

Centre College’s Equestrian Club will host an on-campus pony ride fundraiser benefitting the Hooves of Hope Therapeutic Riding Center, April 19.

This is the third year the Equestrian Club has partnered with Hooves of Hope for an on-campus fundraiser. The entire Danville community is invited to participate in the event, which will take place from 4-6 p.m. on the lawn outside Breckinridge Hall. Pony rides will cost $3.

Hooves of Hope is a non-profit organization that offers equine therapy to individuals with various needs, helping them build physical strength as well as developing their self-confidence and social skills.

Centre’s Equestrian Club provides the opportunity for students to interact with horses, as well as bond with other members. Group activities include visits to thoroughbred farms in Lexington and riding lessons at DeLima stables in nearby Mercer County.

The club is open to students of all equine experience levels.

“I think the best thing about the club is that it brings people together who all have a common interest in horses and gives us the resources to try and learn about new things,” Equestrian Club President Emily Doorman ’18 said.
