Fund the flame brings friendly competition to the challenge, Nov. 28

In its fourth year, Centre College will host Fund the Flame, Nov. 28, a one-day giving challenge to support the College and guarantee the Centre Experience for generations to come.

“We’re excited about the upcoming Fund the Flame giving campaign,” Director of Annual Giving Joey Gilbert said. “This year’s event will give our alumni and friends the opportunity to support four different areas of need.”
Instead of one goal and one challenge, there will be four goals and four challenges.

“We are stoking some friendly competition this year between our four top funding areas—athletics, study abroad, scholarships and Centre Fund—to see which group can get the most gifts in that day,” Gilbert explained. “Hopefully the element of competition will add a new dimension to the challenge and make it fun for alumni to follow our progress throughout the day to see if ‘their flame’ wins.”

In addition, a Centre Trustee has agreed to donate $10 for every gift made to support the team of the donor’s choice, up to $20,000 each.

At the end of challenge, whichever team wins will be given an additional $50,000.

“The competition between the four initiatives will make Fund the Flame an exciting event, all while supporting the people and programs of Centre,” Gilbert concluded.
