New mobile Centre website debuts

Centre College recently launched a new mobile website. Available at, the site allows users to connect with Centre more easily on their smart phones.
“The mobile site is a pared-down version of the website that focuses on bringing key content to different audience groups,” says Jessica Shields, Centre’s visual and web designer. “On the mobile site, visitors can find general news and events, as well as admission information for prospective students.”
Later this summer, part of CentreNet will also be added to the mobile site.
“Students, faculty and staff will be able to access class schedules, convo credits, dining menus, the directory and more from their mobile devices,” Shields says.
Also available on the mobile site are a calendar with campus-wide events and a social media tab, with links to Centre’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr accounts, so that visitors can move easily from one platform to another on their mobile devices.
“The layout of the mobile site has been simplified so that visitors are only seeing key links and content,” says Shields. “The text has been enlarged so it’s easier to read on a mobile device. It also loads faster than the Centre homepage does on a mobile device, using less data.”
Keep checking the new mobile Centre website for updates and information.
