Metzmeier comes to Centre College from Bellarmine University, where he has served as Chief Government, Community, and Strategic Partnership Officer. In this capacity, he has been instrumental in fostering relationships with corporate, governmental and nonprofit entities, and he has successfully managed initiatives that bridge academic and career preparation. His prior roles at Bellarmine include Assistant Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving.

Dr. Metzmeier’s connection to Centre runs deep. A native of Louisville, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology/sociology and religion from Centre College in 2004 and it was here he met his wife, Sarah (Hermann) Metzmeier, also a 2004 graduate. He also holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. from Bellarmine.

Reflecting on his return, Metzmeier shared, “Centre College played a transformative role in shaping my personal and professional path. I am honored to come back to this incredible community and help create opportunities for students to thrive in their careers and beyond.”

Beyond his professional achievements, Metzmeier is deeply engaged in his community. He lives in Louisville with Sarah and their two sons, Luke and James.
