Vicki A. Darnell, RN, MSN, president and chief executive officer of Ephraim McDowell Health in Danville, Ky., was elected the newest member of Centre College’s Board of Trustees at the spring board meeting on April 10-11, 2014. Darnell was elected as a member of the Class of 2017, and her term as a board member is effective immediately.
Darnell offers more than 26 years of progressive health care experience. Her career follows a path of leadership roles within the industry, including appointments to a number of state and national-level health care initiatives, such as the Kentucky Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees and Legislative Committee, chair of the state’s Certificate of Need Committee, and the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board.
Equally notable is Darnell’s civic activity within Danville, including her board member service to the Danville/Boyle County Economic Development Partnership, the Heart of Kentucky United Way, the Heart of Danville Main Street Program, the Professional Women’s Club, the Centre College President’s Advisory Committee and the Farmers National Bank Community Board.
Darnell graduated from Mississippi College (Clinton, Miss.) and Shorter College (Rome, Ga.) with bachelor of science degrees in nursing. She went on to earn a master of science in health systems administration from McColl School of Business/Vail School of Nursing in Charlotte, N.C.
Darnell lives in Danville with her husband, Keith. They have two grown children, Aubrey and Garrett.
