BIOGRAPHY

Mattie Zimmerman joined Centre College in 2018. She was an assistant athletic trainer for 4years, and this year (2022) Mattie was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer. She is excited to lead the Colonels’ Sports Medicine staff. She works mainly with football, cross country, cheer, and track & field.

Originally from North Carolina, Mattie attended UNC-Chapel Hill, majoring in Exercises and Sport Science-Athletic Training. She passed her board certification in 2008, and then attended UNC-Greensboro for her Master’s of Education-Pedogogy in Kinesiology.

After graduating in 2010 with her MEd and K-12 PE teaching license, she moved to Baltimore and was the head athletic trainer/PE teacher at Gerstell Academy for five years. In 2015, Mattie followed her husband’s career to Columbus, Ohio, where they both worked for Denison University. Mattie served Denison first as an Assistant Athletic Trainer (1yr) and then was promoted to Associate Head Athletic Trainer and worked with football and men’s lacrosse.

Mattie lives in Danville with her husband, Grant, Centre's men's lacrosse coach, and they have one adorable daughter named Caroline.
