BIOGRAPHY
Robert J. Brownlee is a professor emeritus of economics at Centre College, where began teaching in 1978. He had prior teaching experience at Kalamazoo College in Michigan.
RESEARCH
Brownlee has special expertise in economic issues facing developing countries, and he spent a year in Uganda researching that country's developing economy. More recently, Brownlee has done work in the economics of tourism in Mexico (1993, 2000), Ecuador (1997, 2000), and in Fiji/Tonga/Samoa, including visits to remote rainforests. Brownlee and Centre students have investigated the question of whether developing areas could find a way to establish sustainable economic development without total disruption of their native lifestyles.

Brownlee's professional activities while at Centre have emphasized consulting legal firms dealing with foregone future earnings cases.
