Benefit Details

Active full-time employees are eligible to participate in the health insurance plan administered by Anthem. Dependent children may be covered until they reach 26 years of age.

Life insurance provides individuals and their families with financial protection. The need for life insurance protection depends on individual circumstances and financial situations. The College pays the premium for an amount of insurance equal to one and one half times an eligible employee’s base annual salary.

An employee may voluntarily elect to add up to five times the unit of insurance (one “unit” of insurance equals an employee’s base annual salary), of the employee’s pay via payroll deduction through MetLife at affordable group rates.

All faculty and staff, who work a minimum regular schedule of 20 hours per week during the academic year, have the option of participating in one of two dental plans administered by Delta Dental of Kentucky. Dependent children are covered to age 23, full-time students up to age 25.

All faculty and staff who work a minimum regular schedule of 20 hours per week during the academic year are eligible to purchase vision coverage through Anthem. Dependent children may be covered until they reach 26 years of age. This program has been designed to provide you and your covered family members with quality, professional vision care at a savings to you.

Centre College recognizes that situations arise which could cause an employee to miss work for an extended period of time. The College provides eligible employees with long-term disability insurance after one year of service. This coverage will give you the peace of mind that you will be adequately covered should something out of your control cause you to miss work.

Faculty and staff working a minimum of 1,000 hours annually are eligible after one year of service and obtaining age twenty-one. The College makes payments representing 10 percent of the employee’s base salary. Contributions begin first of the month, following one year anniversary. TIAA-CREF is the provider and funds are invested at the direction of the employee.

Additionally, faculty and staff may elect to make a payroll deduction to a Supplemental Retirement Annuity account within the limits of section 403b of the Internal Revenue Code.

Flexible spending accounts, or FSAs, provide eligible employees with an important tax advantage that can help you pay health care and dependent care expenses on a pretax basis. By anticipating your family’s health care and dependent care costs for the next plan year, you can lower your taxable income.

The College currently has 13 paid holidays. Prior to the start of each academic year, the College determines which holidays will be recognized and the specific days the holiday will be celebrated. In addition to the college-wide holidays, each employee has four (4) floating holidays per academic year available to schedule in advance with their supervisor’s approval. Also, eligible employees earn paid time off based on years of service.

Individual course or courses that are part of a degree, licensing, or certification program and related to an employee’s current job duties or a foreseeable-future position in the organization are eligible for educational assistance up to $1,500 per fiscal year.  Additionally, the College offers on-campus classes and seminars throughout the year on a variety of topics including, but not limited to, leadership development, retirement planning, software classes, wellness activities and policy updates.

Your eligible dependents may receive college tuition assistance up to the maximum award that will cover the equivalent of the normal four year undergraduate program for up to two children per family.

You will have the opportunity to participate in several unique benefits an educational environment provides, such as free admission to home athletic events, use of the facilities of the College that include the Library, the Buck Fitness Center, discounts through the bookstore, and discounted prices for tickets on select packages at the Norton Center for the Arts.
