Dr. Inouye's DLM 3 class (Asian American Remix: Oral Histories and Cultural Narratives) will host Dr. Jimiliz Valiente-Neighbors (Professor of Sociology, Point Loma Nazarene University) on April 2.
Dr. Valiente-Neighbors will discuss the processes of conducting research on the experiences of Filipino World War II veterans and producing the play Kagitingan to remember the Bataan Death March when thousands of Filipino soldiers serving with American forces lost their lives. Students will incorporate their learning into their oral histories and final projects on new narratives emerging from Asian American and Pacific Islander experiences.
