Keynote Black History Event: A Fireside Chat with JH Atkins

“Standing on the Shoulders of Others” a Fireside Chat with Danville’s first Black Mayor, JH Atkins. A trailblazer in his own right, Mayor Atkins is illuminating a road of possibilities for future generations. For this one-night only engagement, audience members will have the opportunity to experience an intimate glimpse into the life of the man behind the Mayoral title. Come and hear his personal story and journey from the military, to the classroom, into the Mayor’s Office, and into the history books. The conversation will be moderated by Jessica R. Chisley – Assistant Director for Diversity and Inclusion Student Programming.
 
This event is FREE and open to the public, with house doors opening at 6:30pm EST.  ASL interpretation services will be provided.
