Study abroad to resume during CentreTerm 2022
Centre College students will once again have the opportunity to venture to destinations across the globe for three weeks of intensive study during CentreTerm 2022. After a year hiatus due to COVID-19, a total of 180 students will be taught by 17 professors and three staff members in over 10 locations throughout the world.
“Our Centre students are ready to resume their world travel and going abroad/away on our CentreTerm programs are exactly what they have been waiting to do,” said Karen Ryan, assistant director of the Center for Global Citizenship. “They know that our faculty and staff who teach and arrange these programs will be top notch.”
Centre resumed its study abroad programs during summer 2021, and has also had a very successful continuation throughout the fall semester. With COVID-19 still a concern around the world, the College is remaining vigilant to assure that students will have the best possible experience. Everyone traveling has been vaccinated and will take the required precautions.
The CentreTerm study abroad program offers several options for students who may not want to spend an entire semester away from campus. Students, faculty and staff will be traveling to Belgium, Belize, France, Germany, Lake Tahoe, London, Merida, Peru, Poland, Spain and Tahiti.
These CentreTerm study abroad opportunities are unique, because students can take their education on the road with them.
“Learning in a classroom is only one way to learn,” Ryan added. “Going abroad or away, their classrooms have no walls and they can see and experience things at a more personal level.”
Throughout the term, students will be experiencing Machu Picchu in person, seeing first-hand the ecology of Belize, working as interns in Merida and traveling the Camino de Santiago in Spain, among a plethora of other opportunities.
These CentreTerm destinations are connected with the College’s highly ranked study abroad program that is part of the Centre Commitment, which guarantees that students will study abroad, participate in an internship or research opportunity and graduate in four years.
