BIOGRAPHY

Abigail Wehby of Nashville, Tenn., joined the coaching staff in the summer of 2023.

A 2021 Centre College graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Wehby is currently working towards her master’s degree in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University. Notably, she served a two-year internship with the Federal Bureau of Investigation during her time at Centre. However, her passion for basketball has ultimately driven her career path. For the past two years, she has served as an assistant middle school coach for the girls’ basketball program at Franklin Road Academy in Nashville where she worked alongside one of her former high school coaches and mentors. While there, Wehby also assisted in scrimmages and practices with the high school team. This past season, her middle school team went undefeated, concluding the season with the conference championship. Additionally, she has conducted individual skill development training with both middle and high-school-aged girls in the Nashville area.

During her time at Centre from 2017 to 2021, Wehby had a stellar playing career, leaving her mark on the program with her floor leadership, ball skills, work ethic, and competitive fire. Wehby, who brought great energy to the program, was both a three-time team captain and a three-year starting point guard for the Colonels, leading the conference in assist-to-turnover ratios in her sophomore and junior seasons and finishing second her senior year. Wehby earned SAA Conference Honorable Mention recognition in her sophomore and junior seasons. She earned a spot on the Conference All-Tournament Team her junior season, nearly leading her team to a Conference Championship appearance. During her junior season, Wehby also earned a spot on the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week after a game against Hanover College where she produced a double-double with 17 points and 12 assists in a memorable Centre win. Wehby’s senior season unfortunately was shortened due to COVID-19, but despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, she again performed at a high level, leading her team and earning recognition as Second Team All-Conference. She also was recognized as Conference Player of the Week for her performance against Hendrix in the final game of the regular season that determined whether the Colonels would have a spot in the Conference Tournament.
