BIOGRAPHY
Jennifer Cain joined the biology program at Centre College in the fall of 2023. Previously, she worked for a start-up in Lexington, Ky., called Parasight System as a parasitologist. Cain completed her Ph.D. at the Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center at the University of Kentucky in 2022, where she primarily studied the equine roundworm, Parascaris. She also holds an M.S. in biology from the University of Nebraska - Kearney and a B.S. from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
RESEARCH
Cain's research focuses on three main areas: parasite microbiomes, methods for sustaining viable parasites in the laboratory, and parasitological surveys of wildlife and animals in zoological parks. She routinely involves undergraduates in research and has published many papers with undergraduate students in past programs.
In her free time, Cain enjoys horseback riding and spending time on her farm with her husband and plethora of animals.
