BIOGRAPHY
Michael Bradshaw joined Centre as an associate professor of computer science in 2014. He earlier served as visiting assistant professor at the College (2005-2007), followed by an appointment as associate professor of computer science at Hanover College (2007-2014). His research interests explore the intersection of gaming and education; in particular, how game elements encourage engagement and can be infused into traditional assignments. On campus, Bradshaw is an advocate for how computer science can fit within a liberal arts setting, and he explores interdisciplinary issues with his students using data science, data visualization, 3D animation and modeling, and environmental simulation. For the past few years, he has worked with students to develop a game for the commercial marketplace called Arcane Architect using the Unreal engine. In this simulation game users design and run a “school for wizards.” Michael graduated from Centre College with a B..A. in computer science and mathematics. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
