The Hope Buss: Delivering Hope to Those in Poverty and The Unhoused
Stachelle Bussey founded and serves as the Executive Director of The Hope Buss in Louisville, KY. Bussey will share how through innovative ways the organization brings hope and healing to those living in poverty and the unhoused. The Hope Buss hosts grocery store runs, health fairs, community conversations on mental health, mental health conferences, free farmer's markets and school supply giveaways. Recently, The Hope Buss was selected to manage The Hope Village, a pilot project where individuals experiencing homelessness can live temporarily outdoors with access to food, shelter, showers, and outreach services. Bussey is a self-taught musician. She became a minister of music at age 22, then returned to her alma mater, Central High School, as assistant band director. In 2015, she was named worship director of One Church Louisville. Bussey earned her Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and serves on Vanderbilt's Racial Justice Collaborative Cohort.
