Examining the Politics of Numbers and Knowledge in the World of In/fertility

Young 113

Manon Lefevre is a Ph.D. candidate in the combined doctoral degree program between Yale University's School of the Environment and Yale's Department of Anthropology. Her dissertation examines the politics of fertility in the midst of the climate crisis, as concerns of global overpopulation collide with record depopulation in the U.S. She explores the landscape of reproduction from above and below, exploring how demographic discourses and knowledge of fertility collide with women's reproductive lives and reproductive health care. Using ethnographic research methods, she brings together the perspective of demographers, reproductive endocrinologists, embryologists, and patients undergoing infertility treatment in the United States.
