The Role of PrEP—Pre Exposure Prophylaxis—in the HIV Epidemic

Student Health, Office of Health Promotions, ODI, QFS Caucus, and the Centre PRIDE Alliance are partnering to bring Steven Ogooué to campus to discuss the role of PrEP in the HIV Epidemic. Mr Ogooué is the VP of Community Relations for Derby City PrEP Clinic in Louisville, KY and Music City PrEP Clinic in Nashville, TN. Music City PrEP is the largest provider of PrEP in the state of Tennessee and has opened a new office in Louisville (Derby City PrEP) for Kentucky residents. The mission of Derby City PrEP Clinic is to get to zero new HIV transmissions in the community through HIV testing, prevention, and treatment. Mr. Ogooué will be covering the current state of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the role of PrEP in decreasing transmission, who needs PrEP, and the process of accessing it, including testing involved, visits required, and cost.
