Fiske Guide to Colleges recognizes Centre among top in nation for return on investment
Centre College has again been recognized by Fiske Guide to Colleges as one of 10 private colleges or universities that maximize return on investment for their students.
In the guide’s annual “Best Value” rankings, Centre earned the “Best Buy” mark for its commitment to an accessible high-quality education.
“The return on investment of a Centre College education starts with our award-winning faculty and staff, who are committed to setting our students on a path to success,” President Milton C. Moreland said. “Our graduates enjoy rewarding, meaningful careers thanks to a hands-on learning environment and incredible opportunities for research and internships.”
In its 40th edition, the Fiske guide highlights 20 colleges and universities — 10 public and 10 private — which earned the “Best Buy” honor. The distinction highlights schools that offer “outstanding educational value as determined by academic quality in relation to the net cost of attendance.”
This emphasis on value is demonstrated by Centre’s need-based aid and merit scholarship programs, regarded among the most generous offerings of any top national college. Over the past 12 months, Centre has been recognized by The Princeton Review for faculty excellence and return-on-investment, Fulbright as a Top Producing Institution, and U.S. News and World Report for “best value” and “study abroad.”
Centre’s efforts were recognized by Bloomberg Philanthropies, earning inclusion in its 28 American Talent Initiative High-Flier institutions — a grouping of high-graduation-rate institutions that are national leaders in college access and success for lower-income students. Currently, 23% of Centre students are Pell-eligible, and the College is committed to growing that number to 25% of the student population by 2027.
Additionally, Centre is a member of the Coalition for College, which is made up of over 170 institutions committed to ensuring that all students have access to a successful, affordable and transformative college experience.
Merit-based awards, such as the Lincoln Scholars program, in addition to the first-generation focused Grissom Scholars initiatives, offer accessibility by recognizing high-achieving incoming students through premier scholarship offerings. Special-interest scholarships, like the Bonner Program and New Horizons Program, provide additional opportunities and support for students to contribute to specific areas of campus life.
