Transferring Students

If you’re looking to forge a strong academic path and make friends along the way, come join our community!

We evaluate transfer applications based on the following:

  • The quality of academic performance in previous college courses
  • The level of preparation and academic achievement in secondary school (your high school prep should generally meet our regular admission requirements)
  • Academic aptitude and achievement
  • A written essay

We also consider:

  • Involvement in school or community activities or employment 
  • Test-included or test-optional candidates

Common App

Apply to Centre through the Common App, which helps students streamline the admission process to more than 1,000 colleges and universities all at once. Applying to Centre College is completely free!

Application Checklist

  • Common App for Transfers, including the essay and short answer: Get Application
  • Official final high school transcript
  • Official transcripts from each college or university attended
  • Professor recommendation from a college or university course
  • Official statement of good standing from each college or university attended: Download Form
  • Optional: Official standardized ACT or SAT test scores (must be sent from the testing agency or printed on your high school transcript); the ACT school code for Centre is 1506, and the SAT school code for Centre is 1109

If you have completed less than two years of college, also include:

  • Secondary School Report from your high school
  • Teacher Recommendation from your high school

Transfer Credits & Course Equivalency

We give credit for courses comparable to those taught at Centre or those compatible with a liberal arts education. You must have attained a C- or better for the course to receive credit.
