Centre College is pleased to announce the reaffirmation of its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The Commission's board voted to approve Centre's 10-year reaffirmation with no additional requirements — the strongest possible outcome of the accreditation process.

SACSCOC accreditation affirms that an institution meets rigorous standards across all areas of college operations, including academic quality, institutional integrity, financial health, governance, and long-range planning. The Commission serves colleges and universities throughout the southern United States and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a reliable authority on institutional quality.

"This outcome reflects the dedication of our entire community — faculty, staff, students, and trustees — to the highest standards of education and institutional excellence," said Milton C. Moreland, president of Centre College. "Reaffirmation confirms what we already know: that Centre students receive an extraordinary liberal arts and sciences education in a supportive community that prepares them for meaningful lives and careers."

The reaffirmation process is a comprehensive, multi-year undertaking that includes an extensive institutional self-study, peer review by off-site and on-site evaluating committees, and final action by the SACSCOC Board of Trustees.

“A positive affirmation from a board comprised of college presidents and higher education leaders, with no further requirements, is a testament to the strength and integrity of Centre's academic programs, administrative practices, and institutional mission,” said Moreland. “Special thanks to Dr. January Haile, Elizabeth Molloy Dowling Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, who serves as our SACSCOC Liaison.”

Founded in 1819, Centre is one of the nation's premier liberal arts and sciences colleges, with approximately 1,400 students, a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio, and a robust commitment to experiential learning, study abroad, and career readiness through the Centre Experience.
