Centre College honored two alumni during the 2026 Associates Dinner held in Louisville.

George H. Sanderlin ’79 was named the Richard W. Trollinger Centre Associate of the Year, while Henry Snyder ’20 was named the Young Centre Associate of the Year. The awards recognize their contributions to supporting Centre’s mission.

“Centre’s work of transforming promising young people into the leaders who will define tomorrow’s world is supported in many ways by those who preceded them on our campus,” said Centre President Milton C. Moreland. “Our alumni selflessly give their time to help fellow alumni, current and future students and give generously to ensure the life-changing experiences they enjoyed at Centre will be available for decades to come.”

George Sanderlin earned his degree in Economics while starring on the track team as a hurdler and member of the 400-meter relay team. After Centre, he earned his MBA from Duke University, going on to hold leadership positions at Sweetheart Cup, Browning-Ferris Industries, Time, Inc., and UPS before his retirement in 2007.

After leaving his post as a coach at North Atlanta High School, Sanderlin became the director of track and cross country at Collins High School in Shelbyville, Kentucky. He also serves as executive director of the Modern Pentathlon of the South Club. He holds the highest level of coaching certification that USA Track & Field (USATF) offers, and he has been a USATF Certified Official since 2008. During his coaching career, George has coached over 130 school record holders at four schools in two states: one state champion in Georgia and 11 state champions in Kentucky; and one national champion and three high school All-Americans.

He has also been a supporter of Centre Athletics, establishing the Track and Field and Cross Country endowment and supporting the indoor track and fieldhouse at Champions Hall, which he chose to name in honor of his friend and fellow track coach, Centre’s Lisa Owens. He plans to continue his support of the program and other College initiatives through his estate plans.

“He’s been a massive supporter of our program and also our biggest fan,” said Owens. “But I think more importantly for me, George has been a really great friend.

“I cannot imagine anybody who loves Centre more and is more deserving of this award.”

Henry Snyder earned his degree in Economics and Finance at Centre, with a  minor in Politics. He was a Brown Fellow and student government president.

Professionally, Snyder has served as director of finance at Churchill Downs, in Louisville, Kentucky, and chief of staff at Boston-based Toolbox Resources.

Snyder is currently serving as chair of Centre’s Alumni Association Board while completing his MBA at Harvard Business School.

Henry's academic focus area is the intersection of business, government and the international economy.  After working with the Louisville Economic Development Alliance during the summer and fall of 2025, Henry will return as COO & CFO full-time to work on economic development for the city upon his graduation from Harvard Business School.

“Henry really exemplifies the best of a Centre liberal arts education,” said Centre Board of Trustees chair Mark Nunnelly. “He wants to learn from others and truly understand the world around him better and leave it better, which is exactly what we want Centre grads to exemplify.”
